Poste Restante
Poste Restante is an inexpensive service for receiving letters, parcels and messages while you’re visiting New Zealand from overseas.
The Poste Restante service provides you with:
- a location to hold mail and parcels until you are ready to collect them.
- a location to redirect mail to.
- a place to leave messages for you.
You don't need to register - simply let others know which Poste Restante address you want your mail forwarded to and it will arrive ready for you to collect.
Your mail items can be held for a maximum of 2 months, after which any unclaimed letters or parcels will be returned to the sender.

The Poste Restante fees depend on how long we hold your items. The first 7 days are free of charge and then charged weekly to a maximum of 2 months.

Find a Poste Restante location
You can have mail redirected from one Poste Restante location to another within New Zealand. We can't redirect your items to a hotel, motel, motor camp or boarding house.
