Overseas VAT/GST registration
An increasing number of overseas countries are changing the way they manage VAT/GST collection on low value goods imports.
How will this affect you?
New Zealand companies selling goods to the below destinations may need to register and directly settle VAT/GST with each country's tax department.
The thresholds for the GST/VAT vary by the destination country. For further information please click below and/or contact your accountant
- European Union Member Countries – From 1 July 2021
- United Kingdom – from 1 January 2021
It is your responsibility to check the management of VAT/GST collection on low value goods imports. Acceptance of the item by us for sending does not free you of this responsibility.
International delivery duties & taxes
Reduce international parcel delays by charging duties or taxes to your NZ Post Account. Available for Express.
Delivery Duties and Taxes Paid (DTP) is an add-on to our Express service. The fee is $50 per parcel. It gives you the option to have duties or taxes incurred for parcels charged back to your NZ Post Account – this can reduce delays.
Using DTP
To sign up to use DTP contact your NZ Post Account Manager or our Business Team.
