How do these terms & conditions work?
These terms and conditions and NZ Post’s website terms and conditions apply to your access to and use of NZ Post’s Market Insights documents, reports and other content produced and/or made available to you by New Zealand Post Limited (NZ Post, we, us and our). Terms with a capitalised initial letter in these terms have the meaning set out in the Definitions section. If there is any inconsistency between these terms and conditions and NZ Post’s website terms and conditions, these terms shall prevail.
We use the phrase "these terms" to cover all of these terms and conditions and any document referred to in these terms and conditions, each as varied from time to time.
Please read these terms carefully before you access and/or download any of NZ Post’s Market Insights. By accessing and downloading any of NZ Post’s Market Insights you agree to be bound by these terms. If you don’t accept them, you should not download any of NZ Post’s Market Insights.
We reserve the right to add to, modify, or remove any of NZ Post’s Market Insights, any feature, specification, or other part of any of NZ Post’s Market Insights (at any time and without notice to you). The materials displayed on our webpage(s) and website(s) and in any of NZ Post’s Market Insights are protected by copyright and other laws of New Zealand, and under similar laws and international conventions abroad. You acknowledge and agree that all copyright and other intellectual property rights that may subsist in any of NZ Post’s Market Insights including text, illustrations, photographs, video, music, sounds, layout, designs, source code, belong to us or to our licensors (together, ‘our intellectual property’). Except with our prior written permission, you may not in any form or by any means:

Use of your information – You warrant to us that you have the appropriate authority and consent to provide the registration details to us and for us to use that information in accordance with these terms and conditions.
What types of personal information do we collect and how do we collect it?
The types of personal information we collect and hold include but are not limited to:
- your name, email address and other contact information which you have provided us;
- if you provide them to us, your business’ and/or employer’s name, the industry you work in and other business information which you have provided to us;
- records of your communications and interactions with us in relation to NZ Post’s Market Insights, such as when you communicate with any NZ Post representatives via phone or email.
Without this personal information we may not be able to provide certain benefits to you, including continued access to NZ Post’s Market Insights and any webpage and/or website hosting NZ Post’s Market Insights.
When you visit the webpage and/or website hosting NZ Post’s Market Insights we may collect information using technology which is not apparent to you (such as "cookies"). How and for what purposes do we use personal information?
By agreeing to these terms you also agree to allow us to use your registration and contact details and other types of information about you that you provide to us (as described above) to:
- provide you with further NZ Post Market Insights or related information via email and phone;
- offer you products and services, provided by NZ Post and other third party businesses we believe may be relevant to you;
- verify your identity (e.g. if you seek access to services or information via a webpage and/or website hosting NZ Post’s Market Insights or a call to the NZ Post Call Centre);
- conduct product and market research for NZ Post;
- carry out data analytics services for the purpose of gaining insights and providing insights and aggregated data (i.e. data that cannot be linked to an individual) to other third party organisations;
- provide marketing communications and targeted advertising to you by email, telephone and/or online (including via Google, Facebook and LinkedIn in accordance with the process set out under the heading ‘Targeted Advertising’ below);
- maintain and update NZ Post’s Market Insights registration records; and
- deal with enquiries from you.
Targeted advertising
From time to time we may use the personal information you’ve provided us to show you relevant targeted advertising through Google, Facebook, Linkedin and other similar digital channels that we have approved. In this case, data (such as email addresses and/or phone numbers) is encrypted and matched in a secure environment with encrypted data held by the social media organisation. The encrypted data is deleted as soon as the match is complete and never kept or used by the digital channel, or shared with any third party through this process.
With whom and for what purposes do we share personal information?
To operate the webpage(s) and/or website(s) hosting NZ Post’s Market Insights and to use your personal information for the purposes set out above, we share personal information with some of our service providers, including our email deployment company and providers of data analysis, data augmentation or data washing services in connection with marketing campaigns related to NZ Post’s Market Insights.
We may share your personal information with service providers of ours that are located in a country other than New Zealand, where we have made a business decision to use a trusted overseas based service provider that is in the business of providing data storage and/or data processing services (for example, the service provider that hosts NZ Post’s Market Insights email marketing platform).
We ensure that any time we share personal information with NZ Post’s Market Insights service providers we do so securely and we take steps to ensure that all our service providers with whom we share personal information agree to protect the privacy and security of your personal information, destroy that data when it is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was supplied to them and use that data only for the purposes for which it is disclosed.
From time to time we may share your personal information in other circumstances where we are specifically allowed to under the Privacy Act 2020 (for example, in cases where the Police ask us for information to assist with its investigation of an alleged criminal offence).
How do we hold personal information?
We take data security very seriously. We have in place rigorous data security policies and practices aimed at mitigating the risks of unauthorised access to, and loss, misuse or wrongful alteration of, personal information held by us.
We take measures to destroy or anonymise personal information held by us if we no longer need to use it for any lawful purpose. We will only store personal information for so long as it is required of the purposes it was obtained. You may always contact us to request your information be updated, changed or deleted.
We are dedicated to keeping your registration details safe and secure from scams and fraud. If you are ever in any doubt about the authenticity of any communications that are or seem to be from NZ Post please immediately email us at [email protected] and include a copy of the email in question.
Electronic communications
You consent to receiving communications from us electronically and you agree that all agreements, notices, disclosures and other communications that we provide to you electronically satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing. You agree to be bound by any agreement reached through electronic communications in terms of the Electronic Transactions Act 2002. You consent to receiving electronic messages and information sent by us (or on our behalf) for any purposes described in these terms.
Data collected in relation to digital services
We may provide access to NZ Post’s Market Insights and related information through a range of digital and online means, including the webpage(s) and/or website(s) hosting NZ Post’s Market Insights, social media channels including Facebook, LinkedIn, and online advertising.
Information is collected via your access to, and downloading of, NZ Post’s Market Insights and NZ Post webpages and websites, through cookies. Cookies are small data files that your browser may store on your computer at the request of webpages and websites you visit. Cookies contain no personally identifiable information, they cannot damage files, nor can they read information from the hard drive of a computer. It is possible to disable the acceptance of such cookies from your web browser. However, doing so may limit your access to and ability to download NZ Post’s Market Insights and use of NZ Post webpages and websites.
Our systems record a variety of information in relation to interactions with the webpages and websites you visit. This can include information about software versions used, device types, device identifiers (like IP address), location data (where available and not disabled by the user), dates, times, file metadata, referring website, data entered, and user activity such as links clicked.
Some information we collect in relation to our digital services is not related to an individual. In many cases, the information relates only to a device or is of an aggregated or statistical nature, and we will have no way of knowing the identity of the user. In other cases, we may associate information about your use of our digital services over time with your personal information, for example, when on any occasion you have logged in, followed a link sent to you by email, or we have otherwise been able to identify you.
