Summary of Terms changes as of 01 July 2021

1)  From 1 July 2021, the General Terms will change to:

a. allow us to make minor changes to the General and Services Terms by publishing these on our website at any time. Only material changes to Terms will now require 30 days’ notice to customers;

b. require that business customers sharing their customer’s personal information with us have permission for that personal information to be used for the purposes of NZ Post being able to contact the customers to get feedback in relation to the delivery or tracking services, and confirms that information won’t be added to any other mailing lists. References to Privacy Act 1993 also updated to Privacy Act 2020.

2) From 1 July 2021, the Service Terms for Courier Services will change to:

a. exclude indirect loss or damage even if caused by the actions of our contractors and agents (previously only referred to our employees) (clause 13);

b. require customers to give at least 30 days’ notice to change or stop scheduled services (new clause 19); and

c. refer to ‘payment’ rather than ‘postage’ (clause 17a).

3) The Service Terms for Postal Sending Services will change to provide for a time limit of 30 days for claims relating to non-delivery of international courier items (previously 21 days) (clause 13c).
