Leave my parcel once
If your signature required parcel is on its way but you won't be home to sign for it, you can authorise the delivery driver to sign for it on your behalf and leave it in a safe place of your choice. Track your parcel to view a photo of where we left your item. Terms & Conditions apply. Here's how to do it:
1. Visit the Tracking tool
Simply enter your parcel's tracking number in the Tracking tool.
2. Click Leave my parcel
Select the Leave my parcel button and add your authority. This option won't be available if your parcel is already with the courier.
3. Choose your location
Make sure your chosen location is weatherproof, out of view of the street, and safe and easy for the courier to access.
Don’t see the Leave my parcel option? You can’t add a Leave my parcel authority if your parcel:
- is already with the courier for delivery.
- has been redirected or delivery has already been attempted.
- contains important items like a passport or is from a sender that couriers can’t leave a parcel for.
Always Leave my parcel
Want all future signature required parcels to be left in your chosen safe place at your delivery address? You can set up an ongoing Leave my parcel authority so all parcel deliveries to your address will be signed for on your behalf by our delivery driver and left in your chosen safe place. Track your parcel to view a photo of where we left your item. Terms & Conditions apply. Here’s how to set it up:
1. Login to My NZ Post
Log in to My NZ Post or Register for an account. It’s free and easy to set up.
2. Add your address
Under Manage addresses in your account, add your address.
3. Verify your address
So we can check your address is yours, click ‘Verify address’ and enter your date of birth.* We may need to send a letter to your address.
4. Add your authority
Once verified, add your instructions. Make sure your location is weatherproof, out of view of the street, and safe and easy for the courier to access.

Help with ongoing Leave my parcel setup
If you can't find your address follow these search hints to help you find the address you're looking for.
It's possible we don't know about your address and it's not yet in our database. This is quite common for new buildings like subdivisions, apartments etc.
To fix this, you can tell us about your address by submitting our Suggest an Address form. Once your address has been approved and added to the database you can try again in 10 working days.
You may not be able to create a Parcel Leave authority for your address for several reasons. These include:
- If your address isn't in our database, it can't be verified. This is quite common for new buildings like subdivisions, apartments etc. To fix this, you can tell us about your address by submitting our Suggest an Address form. Once your address has been approved and added to the database, you can try again in 10 working days.
- Your address may have been blocked from having a Leave my parcel authority against it by a current or previous occupant at the address. Check with the other occupants at your address, and if you'd like the block removed, please contact our Customer Care Centre.
- The Leave my parcel service isn't available in your area.
If you receive an error message, we'll still likely send you a verification letter by post. Check your email for confirmation that we have received your request and that a letter is on its way to you.
You should expect to receive your letter within 10 working days. You have 30 days to enter the verification code before it changes to Expired and another verification code will need to be requested for that address.
Did you request a new verification letter because the first one took too long to arrive? It's possible that this is an old code, and a new letter is on its way with the correct code that you need to input.
The instructions you see are attached to the address. You can replace the instructions by clicking 'Replace instruction'. Ensure that you let all the residents know at your address that you have changed the instructions, as it will affect all parcel deliveries to the address.
Frequently asked questions
You can change your instructions at any time. To do this, sign in to your My NZ Post account and go to 'Manage addresses', found in the top menu.
You'll only have the option to change your Parcel Leave authority with an 'active' status. Click 'Replace instruction' and choose where to leave future parcel deliveries. For tailored instructions click 'Other' and type your details in the field provided. Add your phone number then click submit.
Please allow up to 5 working days for this change to take effect and ensure all residents at the address are notified.
No, you can't redirect a parcel and also authorise the courier driver to sign for and leave your parcel for security reasons.
By giving authority for the courier to sign for and leave your parcel, you also acknowledge that NZ Post won't be liable in any way for any loss or damage to the parcel left at the address in accordance with your instructions. This means it's up to you to ensure the location you have specified is safe and secure.

If your Parcel Leave authority requires access keys or a pin code to be provided to the Delivery Agent, please use our Parcel Leave service online and we will contact your local depot to make these arrangements.
Your Leave my parcel authority is valid on an ongoing basis. After 12 months we'll email to ask you to review your Leave my parcel authority in case you wish to modify/cancel it. If there is no response to the email, we will also send a letter to the address following up.
